There was a time when fitness was just a fad, a trend that was followed by the elite. People who had nothing else to do would go for exercise. I’m sure you’ve seen your share of movies where the rich and free are shown visiting swimming pools, state of the art gyms, and tennis courts, while people like us went to work. But thankfully, more and more people are becoming aware of the risks of a sedentary lifestyle. Now fitness is fast becoming a way of life for millions of Americans, and it is continuously spreading.

Find out why exercising together is not only the best way for you to stay fit but also stay together.

Boost the quality of your relationship

Numerous studies have been done regarding this theory and most of them say the same thing. Couples feel more satisfied in their relationships when they work out together. Some even reported of having a more romantic connection with their partners.

The truth is, with the hectic lifestyle of today, it’s very hard to have some time to work on your relationship. You’re both always busy with work, children, or some other responsibility. Even if you do have the time, you spend it in other activities. Spending that time together, working out will not only be better for your bodies but also your relationships. As they say “Families who sweat together, stay together.” (Maybe they don’t say it exactly like that).

Who’s the responsible one now?

One of the things that hampers a person’s gym time is the lack of motivation right before going to the gym, or just when you’re about to login to your favorite exercise app. Sometimes lifting your finger and taping on the screen of your mobile phone is the hardest thing to do.

Or maybe you’re just too busy or tired. Working out together will not only give you the social support you need to remain on track, it will also make sure that you both have selected the same time in your schedules to work out. Hence, no more arguments about one person always going to the gym and the other person always sacrificing their gym time.

There’s no ‘I’ in Team

Relationships are all about working together, a state of interdependence. Usually what happens is that both parties have their own ways of relaxation and both rigidly stick to it. After a while, both parties start drifting apart, not knowing what is actually coming between them. Actually it’s nothing between them, it’s something on either side pulling them apart. Taking a new workout challenge with your beau  can really take your relationship to the next level. As you work together, you get a feel of how hard it is for your partner and your relationship and understanding evolve.

It’s fun AND healthy

Admit it, every time you guys do something together you end up talking about it for weeks. Yes, it’s really fun to plan activities and adventures with your better half. You can participate in a competition, plan a hike, run a marathon, or login to a trainer app together, or any other activity that you both enjoy. The point is that you’ll have fun, you’ll build on your relationship, you both will have a long and healthy life, you’ll reduce the stress in your life and improve your self-esteem.

What could be better?
